About Beverley Wasmund

BeverleyWasmundweb.jpgBeverley’s therapeutic approach is informed by her education as an Occupational Therapist, her prior career in post-secondary research and teaching, and her own lived experience with special needs parenting.

Beverley earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Science degree from McMaster University.  Prior to embarking on her career change to Occupational Therapy, she worked in industrial and post-secondary academic settings in research, teaching and administration.  Inspired by her own personal experience in the world of special needs parenting, Beverley pursued a career change and graduated from the Master of Science (Occupational Therapy) program at McMaster University.

Her clinical experience has focussed on pediatric assessment and treatment, with a particular interest in developmental and intellectual disabilities.  Beverley’s commitment to scholarly, evidence-based practice is demonstrated by several academic awards, including the 2012 CanChild Research Convocation Award for exploring important issues in childhood disability, by demonstrating academic strength in pediatrics, and conducting or taking a leadership role in an innovative research project focused on child or youth disability.

In acknowledgement of her community involvement and leadership, Beverley received the 2007 Hamilton Week of the Child and Youth Award for dedication in improving the lives of children and youth in the community.

Beverley is passionate about enabling children and youth with special needs to accomplish what is meaningful and important to them and their families.  Beverley understands the daily challenges families with special needs children face and is able to provide relevant, practical recommendations for her clients.

Beverley is registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia and a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy.  Her private practice is located in Surrey, BC and she warmly welcomes new clients. Physician’s referrals are not required.
